EARTH DAY Prevent Littering® campaign moves full speed ahead; plans to add second city

In honor of Earth Day (April 22), NOOTERS CLUB®, Pet Supplies Plus® of Bloomfield Hills, MI and All About Animals Rescue of Warren, MI are offering high-quality, low-cost spay and neuter to Pet Supplies Plus shoppers. The campaign has already signed up dozens of pets who will be sterilized in a day-long spay/neuter marathon on April 17. The organizers are considering adding a second day to accommodate demand. Now, a second Prevent Littering campaign is being planned for elsewhere in Michigan. Stay tuned for more info.

Report back from the Twin Cities; first known S/N clinic is open, another plans mobile unit

NOOTERS CLUB® just returned from Minneapolis where we were an exhibitor at the Twin Cities Pet Expo. A big topic among visitors was the lack of low-cost spay/neuter services in the state. It appears that state legislation has prevented clinics from starting up. One that has managed to get through the red tape is the Northland Spay/Neuter Clinic in Duluth, MN. They provide low-cost spay and neuter for dogs and cats; pet owners must meet household income requirements. They also have a pet pick-up van that goes to Forest Lake, MN. Word is that a new mobile spay/neuter clinic is also coming, according to the Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program website at www.mnsnap.org. Plans are to launch sometime in spring 2010.
