CATS for Christmas Each year, NOOTERS CLUB® creator Linda Wasche struggles to come up with a new holiday greeting for clients of her marketing firm. This year, she is giving away cats! Of course, not to just anyone, but for clients, colleagues and friends, her firm is offering to cover the adoption fee, spay/neuter and vaccinations for anyone who will give a good home to a cat or kitten from the Oakland Pet Adoption Center in Michigan. She has also teamed up with a Pet Supplies Plus store that has agreed to provide gift certificates to adopters. For more information on the program, contact Wasche at Lindaw@nootersclub.org.
HOOTERS® girls and NOOTERS CLUB® raise money for pets! Hooters® at Sunset Station in Las Vegas joined with NOOTERS CLUB® last month to raise awareness for spay and neuter and raise money for Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary in Las Vegas. The Hooters girls were a big hit at the Happy Paws Pet Expo where they helped NOOTERS CLUB® convey a serious message to the crowd. For two full days they appeared on stage, signed autographs and sold raffle rickets and Hooters® 2009 calendars with part of proceeds going to Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary. They also premiered our NEW cat and dog tank tops - now available on the NOOTERS CLUB® website. Hooters girls modeling the new NOOTERS CLUB® tank tops at the Happy Paws Pet Expo in Las Vegas. A big THANK YOU to the girls and to Hooters® at Sunset Station for your enthusiasm and professionalism, all your help, raffle donations and most of all, for reaching out to do something for the animals. We love you!!
A Holiday Story Volunteers for Animal Welfare runs the SPOT Clinic, a low-cost spay/ neuter clinic in Oklahoma City. They introduced "Spay It Forward" cards for purchase that people can give to someone they know or donate the card back to the clinic to use for a client as needed. They shared the following story. A woman walked up to the desk with her paperwork. We had reduced the price to $10 for her cat to be spayed. As she was counting coins to pay, she told me how she had gotten the cat. The kitten had been literally dumped in her lap at Wal-Mart. She tried explaining to the lady giving the kitten away that she didn't need a cat and that she really couldn't afford another pet. It happened to be her birthday. I looked back at her paperwork and tried to figure out how to reduce her cost even more. As I looked back up at the woman, I saw the row of redeemed Spay It Forward coupons hanging on the wall. I stopped her from counting change and handed back her money. "We have a donor who has spayed it forward for you. It will be free today. Happy birthday." The woman stopped. Her hands flew to her eyes.
