NEW ALABAMA HOT LINE BOOSTS S/N VOLUME

In October 2007, Spay Alabama, a project of the Alabama Animal Control Association, launched 866-9-SPAY-AL, a toll free spay/neuter hotline.  Most callers are referred to the Alabama Animal Alliance Spay Neuter Clinic in Montgomery, a low cost, high-volume clinic, which is the first of its kind in the state.  IN ITS FIRST 24 SURGERY DAYS, THE CLINIC PERFORMED 659 PROCEDURES.  More clinics are proposed in 2008.  In addition, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation is sponsoring a spay/neuter license tag with proceeds going to a similar program for Medicaid recipients.  For more info, contact Donald Kendrick at donald@spayalabama.net or go to www.aacacares.net.

NOOTERS CLUB® SUPPORTS SPAY/USA
NOOTERS CLUB
® has donated part of its 2007 proceeds to SPAY/USA for low cost spay and neuter programs the organization operates around the United States.  The donation will provide about 30 spays and neuters to low income families.  “Our goal is to contribute a percent of proceeds from NOOTERS CLUB® sales to nonprofit rescues each year,” says NOOTERS CLUB® President Linda Wasche.  “We are starting out small, but hope to keeping building on what we can donate.” For more information on SPAY/USA, go to  www.spayusa.org.

FIVE SAVES LIVES PROMOTES EARLY S/N

Waiting to spay or neuter cats until they are six months old can result in millions of unwanted litters each year.  The new Five Saves Lives campaign promotes cat spay and neuter before five months.  Kittens can go into their first heat toward the end of their fourth month or during their fifth month.  Waiting until the first heat also can result in medical problems such as various forms of cancer.  For campaign information, go to www.fivesaveslives.org
