EACH YEAR in the U.S. millions of healthy dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and other pets are killed simply because there is not enough room.  Please do your part to save lives.  Have your pet spayed or neutered!

Alabama License Plate program a success

In Alabama, the statewide spay/neuter license plate initiative has been a success.  In 2008, 1,582 license plates were sold, exceeding the 1,000 minimum requirement.  State rules dictate that you must pre-sell 1000 in a one-year period before they will mass produce them.  This program is sponsored by the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation and will target Medicaid recipients.  This is a huge step forward in the struggle to end the unnecessary killing of dogs and cats in Alabama.

SpayAlabama launches Feral Cat Fridays

The Alabama Spay/Neuter Clinic, sponsored by
SpayAlabama, will hold monthly Feral Cat Fridays.
Cat colony caretakers are encouraged to trap as
many feral cats as possible and bring them to the
clinic for spay/neuter; supplemental pain meds;
rabies vaccination and flea, worm and ear mite
treatment. All cats will have their ears tipped to
show that they have been altered.  Total package
price is only $45. For information contact Donald,
